It's been years since I messed with CJs. I had 4" on my '7 but I don't remember what all I had to do.

 David, my CJ5 has 4in lift and no mods to the shaft.  I've only broken two rear ujoint in my time.  A CJ7 would be even better.  You'll need some degree shims to help aim the diff up higher.  Most people put a transfercase drops on them to lower the case and lessen the angle.  I used to, but wanted the clearance back and haven't had many issues.   I carry a spare shaft and ujoint just in case thou ~innocent
