I was thinking that there are a lot of folks that use C.C.. Some alone, Some are in small  groups that are fairly new at wheeling and so on. Would there be any advantage to having a dedicated CB channel for the CC park for emergency Use? I know the emergency channel is already on the radio but who the heck is monitoring it? And when? If there was a posted Cb emergency channel posted at 4 corners and at the campground entrances it might be a life saver? I was just thinking to myself and thought I would see if it made sense to anyone else. 1eye

I think it's a great idea. However, i think it's probably best if we leave it as channel 9 which i understand is the standard emergency channel. This way if someone isn't familiar with CC but is familiar with CBs they'd be good to go. That being said I think it would be wise to post a sign saying that CB channel 9 is the emergency channel for CC. Just my .02.

Does anyone actually monitor 9 ??

This will never happen but what would be great is a chalkboard at 4 corners with the time, the groups planned  trails and what channel they are on.

Most wheeling areas don't need anything like this but CC can get congested.

Chalkboard ain't a bad idea. Someone needs to monitor 9. Maybe someone needs to carry 2 CBs. One to chat with fellow wheelers and one to monitor. Shoot, I have to CBs and the dang one in the Dodge always reverts to 9 when you tunr the truck off and back on anyway.

I think the board is a good idea altho realistically I think only the more organized 4X4 groups would actually use it and I predict it wouldn't be long before lowlife scumbag puke head puts graffiti all over it

Other than the logistics of it all, the only problem with the CB idea that I can think of is getting a signal in some of the canyons, doesn't travel far out there.

If the chalkboard thing took off putting the info like what trail and from what direction, departure time, how many and cb channel on there would be helpful

You know I've been thinking lately I wish there was ONE board=forum...with a section for each major offroading place Super Truckhaven CC etc. so that if you wanna go somewhere some weekend you can look up and see who's going where and join. I'm member of a bunch of boards and often miss runs because I don't remember to check every board all the time, but staying with just one board doesn't always work since my schedule doesn't always line up with the rest of the world's.

Yeah but I don't know how you're gonna get everyone from every board to post up in one place.

The single internet board is a good idea, I just wonder about the logistics of keeping it updated, administering it, getting other boards, groups, clubs and so on to take part and all that.

Something very much worth looking into tho

I would imagine there are quite a few that miss runs for this same reason.

Would an email list help? We could announce new runs (and updates) in a low-volume email list. Maybe limit it to events that have enough support to warrant a Calendar entry. Prevent replies to the list - if people want to post to say they will or won't come, they can get on the forum. Of course we'd give folks the option of getting these announcements or not.

Just a thought.

There is an option in each members profile to not receive announcements but I do think it's a good idea to announce by e-mail runs and events. And if it can be done I have no doubt Brandon can do it, he has amazing abilities, with computers that is.

What we should do is get together a couple of committees, one for runs, one for announcements, to make some rules and guidelines for the announcements, maybe setup a few minutes to plan it out  TDay

I use Outlook for my Email. I can set up groups, then type up one email, pick a group, an bam, 20 or 100 or however many people have a run announcement email.

Thanks David, Outlook is a handy tool, but I was thinking of a more automated approach.
The server can host an email list that is automatically populated with folks who sign up for the forum and who choose to receive the alerts.

We (you) could pull it off profile.php?

And just make it a feature of the forum.
