After owning my jeep for over a month now and keeping a eye on the engine oil, Water, belts, leaks,  and a quick once over after every run.

Just yesterday i noticed a major engine compartment component is missing,  I'm no motor / engine type guy, but this is also something i should have been checking as well.. but how could I, .... Its not there !!!
.
Please tell me you don't see whats missing either, so i don't feel like such a idiot...
And Yes it should be easy to tell from this pic'

coolant recovery, overflow ?
.
Yep' ....... do some of you remove them for tilt' or some other reasons ,  didn't need them back in the 70's ???
.
when i found the leak coming from the overflow hose, routed up and around the battery i just figured they didn't use one on this model, due to no room for it anyways towards the front end of the engine compartment, till i saw a pic' with it located all the way back up against the firewall on the passenger side.  that couldn't be any futher away from the filler unless they put it in the trunk !!! and on my year' the cap is on the drivers side.
.

but it does spits a little bit with every drive, just put about 3/4 of a gallon in it after driving it about 600 mi or so..........
.
maybe just a higher pressure cap. ???      or do i need a recovery tank so i don't have to keep a eye on my water level so frequently..
