What a long day, we managed to get off to a late start  ThumbUp, headed out exploring two trails that ended up dead ends, don't go down that road, shook every nut and bolt loose, got dirty, dusty and muddy but no one got hurt and nothing major broke. All in all a good day.

After a certain someone arrived at Albertson's 15 minutes late and a late stop for gas we managed to make progress poking along behind traffic heading to Julian.

We checked out Mine Wash and Pinyon Trail, both let us down. Nice scenery, found a cool future camp site  but alas, no shortcut to Pinyon Mt.

From there we headed east to Ocotillo Wells and south to Split Mt Rd. Always a beautiful drive, wandered up to the Diablo Dropoff Cutoff and re-arranged some rocks and cleaned some paint off the bottom sides and then up Diablo Dropoff and back to the S-2.

The flash floods have cleaned everything up but at the same time they also unfortunately deposited tons of sand and basically filled in the all the spaces between the rocks so all the trails are now quite smooth.

We lost a couple of our group along the way who headed home early and the stragglers headed north for Rodriguez/Orriflame Canyon for a night run and nerve check.

After we managed to get back to pavement in one piece it was up to Julian for Apple Pie. Since we have nothing nice to say about the Mom's Pie Shop after our experience there tonight suffice it to say that after much effort we managed to score a few pies at Don's Market and then back home while listening to the Chargers on the radio whupping up on some horseys.
]
And no, that wasn't Bambi or Rudolph we had for snacks, but it was one fine moose/elk/bear burger/sausage and the cod was insanely good, you are always invited along  Cheers

A great day, lots of new friends, the kids had a blast and brought back a few extra pounds of dirt and found some cool pottery in a most unexpected place and we even managed to drag a Prius into the fray  punk

Long day but I was nice to get out there. Had a good time, met some new people, got lost in a couple of box canyons and had various grilled animals for lunch. All good.

A couple of other things I learned today. My center console is quite waterproof, since the rain had half filled it. Also, there is a certain level of discomfort after being splashed in the face with gasoline.

And we still need a snow run.

Looks like good times, again... Good turn out, beautiful day, no serious breaks, and good friends. It doesnt get much better than that. Oh, and a night game for after wheeling enjoyment!   Great weekend and thanks for the pics and writeup.

I think I met everyone, but if not, Howdy  Cheers

One thing I did not really do is put a user name with a jeep so maybe we could do that.

Had a great time (expected with this crowd)!  I'll try and get some photos up later today.  I think I may have made it through an entire run and not break something . . . wow, a new experience for me  clap

The boys still are asking how come we didn't find the airplane crash remains?

I was surrounded by so many Jeeps, I felt like the white Toyota out there - I wish my CE light didn't come on an 'ruin' my day - looks like all the fun was at the end....

Side note, just picked up my Jeep from service getting my engine torn apart, flushed and inspected since I did around 1800+ miles and a few off road trips without an oil filler cap.  Good looking out guys, thanks for spotting that for me.  Inspect what you expect in all aspects of life I guess.  If you don't do it yourself, then be sure to check the other guys work.
