So, I want to start a new project on an old Jeep (or, Willys). I was thinking about getting an old Jeepster Commando, but now, maybe leaning towards a Willys 2-door Wagon.
Anyone with experience with either? Pros / Cons?
I would like to build it to be a weekend crawler (more or less able to drive to the trails, but not devastated if it obtains moderate to serious damage.)

Usta have a wagon, stock, didn't do much with it, sold it. Buddy (D Rat) is building one in Yuma. Pretty hardcore. Chopped down 'burb frame, one ton axles, 38" tires, lots of work! http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247437&highlight=willys+wagon

Thanks for the link. Some pretty crazy rigs on there. Lots of ideas and opinions as how to go about building an old Willys rig.

How much did you want to build Ty? Ive built a lot of rig for folks and it's a lot more than most people think in both time and money. I think its a lot better to find a project that has already acquired the bulk of the aftermarket goodies, and one that someone else has done most of the work on. Maybe even a runner and then modify it to your wants and needs. Just my opinion...

What would you want for your project?

Well, my intentions of starting a 1954 Willys Wagon project has been put on hold due to unforeseen issues that have sprung up (and will now use up my little project fund money.) I guess I'll have to start saving again, and hope a sweet deal is available when I'm ready.

I know where there's a commando but wagons are cooler.
