For a totally spur of the moment event this turned out rather well. We met at George's Burgers in Escondido (not as good as Nessie's) and headed out after filling up on burgers and lies 

most of us had never been there so with Eric co-piloting with Jerry Bransford we aired down at the gate and then made our way in. We managed to get in a little bit of everything and we finished the day wondering why we were all covered in md and Jerry's jeep was still shiny and clean, another mystery of the universe.

Basically if you go up there to offroad you are probably okay.  Go up there to shoot, vandalize or dump a stolen vehicle and it's a different story.

Jason (Jeebs) has contacted the SD County Sheriff Department and spoke with the Deputy who patrols that area. The gist of that conversation is that this is in fact private property, there are no signs or locked gates and the Sheriff's department will not enforce any trespassing laws unless signs are posted, locks are cut or the land owners request enforcement. However, that does mean they will not stop someone coming out of that area. There have been problems up there including vandalism, dumping of stolen property, environmental damage, even bodies dumped there so they have an interest of who is up there and why and the area is regularly patrolled by land and air law enforcement.
