Anybody local in San Diego ever done this with luck? I would like to have this done before the Superstition Run coming up. If anyone has any pointers or is willing to do it for a reasonable amount? Let me know.
Thanks
Shawn

A buddy of mine did it all the time to his jeeps never any problems. If he did  a lot of twisty stuff he would unlock one of the front hubs, oh and he did this to front and rear diffs. If I remember correctly it is a different rod for welding up the gears M.T.  helpsmilie is this correct???

My rear 44 was welded up (Lincoln Locker) when I bought it. It lasted for about a year before the spiders shattered and then followed to take out the ring and pinion. $180 spool it. clap

Its hard to beat $2.00 worth of wire, $1.00 worth of mig mix, and $5.00 worth of 220v for the welder. Get busy! ThumbUp

Is there a down side to this.  Being its a full time deal
.
Axle Snap' more prone because no limited slip
.
Harder on Trans' (auto or stick) u-Joints
.
Tire scuff, ware, Noise, vibration.
.
Something you wouldn't want to do if its your commuter (mines not)
.
Or nothing major enough to out-weight the benefit of a locker.
.
( I really don't understand Limited slip either, but that's a whole new thread)
