I plan on using it hard, but by that article it seems like the locker is not going to be the weak link.  I will probably eventually use 35s when I can afford them.

The article is for an 80. The 80 has a strong one piece case, the 44 doesn't. If you're going to beat on it I'd use a detroit = full case replacement. The weakness of the Detroit is if you violently snap an axleshaft the torque going back into the diff can break it. Then you have the spool option which is cheap and tough but steering goes out the window and you're more likely to break a shaft if you get bound up tight in the rocks.

Ran them on my cj-7 front and rear never an issue in the front but broke the rear a simple install can be done in a couple of hours and no special fluids are needed.

I had one in the rear of mine, it lasted for years with no problems then one trip trying to go up a hill it started popping loose on me, however I ran it with 35's and have a V8? For the price you can't beat it, but if you can wait and save up more you would be better with a Detroit.  I still currently a lockrite up front and as of now no issue. I also have a cj5.

Running the Aussie locker up front. No problem. Easy install. I've heard the pins wear on the lock rite after a while, but doesn't everything?  Cheers

I broke the one I had in a HP 44 in my XJ.  The pins broke out the "windows" on it.  It was a fun drive out of Prichett Canyon in rear wheel drive.

Worked great until it broke.  I don't think I was "hard" on it but it was a heavy rig and I think front digging is fun.  I had Yukon shafts and Ox joints in it.
