Post Something, Anything'

« on: January 13, 2009, 08:00:13 PM »

.
I was thinking that might be you....Nice Heep !!! .... i was there to picking up my parts for the air-to-air from spare trick from another post here.
.
It don't work.......dosent let air out. the stardart air chucks must be one-way valves....... going to try to adapt a fitting to one of those auto-air down valves.
.
if that don't work, I'm blasting a hole in the rim for a standard (female) air coupler in the thing'  opposite of the original fill valve... it might not balance ? but its a Spare !
.
I'll still get a on board compresser or CO2 tank later, but i love the Jerry-Rig Trick stuff.  stuart
.
.
.
Air is hard to comprehend.   helpsmilie
.
You cant see it,  You cant feel it,  You cant taste it,  So I Myself didn't Understand it.
.
Which brings me to the first lesson Metal-Twister taught me here on SCUFF'   Thanks
.
I saw a post where a guy was working on his rig and Posted his modifications of his work,  and i saw what i thought was a Major No-No'
.
So I, PM'ed MT, and asked if something should be said to him ?   no
.
He Quickly replied'  "NO GRASSHOPPER" as long as I feel his safety is not at risk, the best way to Learn / is to Live and Learn
.
So after tonight,  I get it !   censored
.
The Air-to-Air from the spare trick don't work''' , but I did overcome getting air out of the spare using a valve extension hose and cut the other end off and inserted a barbed 1/4 fitting in the other end, but still After buying 30 dollars worth of air hose, air-chucks, couplers, fittings, hose clamps, Tape, One-Way Valves.......... It Don't Work'   taz
.

.
Pumped 45 lbs of air into my spare, and aired down a tire to 12 lbs , I hooked up my new Million Dollar / Sure to make me get Rich Quick Kit. .... It wouldn't even push a couple of pounds into the tire after a couple of minutes or more..
It don't Work'    did i mention that yet !!!  EnoughAlready
.

.
So bummed and embarrassed that it didn't work, knowing i would have to fess up here, I thoroughly checked into it with a Valves/Engineer at work.
After a stimulating conversation with someone that might as well been speaking French' . I said give it to me in Lamens terms.   stupid
.
Its not a 1 to 1 Ratio, and different volumes and stretch conditions apply, and 20 extra lbs in a tire or tank / does not put 20 lbs into somewhere else. and the pressures will equalize when they both match the same pressure, and pressure 'Pyramids' so 10 extra lbs in a tank that all ready has 120 lbs , does not equal 10 extra lbs in something with only 32 lbs..it may only give you 2 extra pounds. ..
.
I would have just dropped the project if someone said it doesn't work' But then I would have never Learned anything / Thanks MT'  ThumbUp
.
So now I'm thinking on how to put all my new $$$ Pneumatic accessories to good use...
.
Brain Storm !!!!!!!!!! ... I can use it to fill up my air mattress .. Whoo Hoo.....  clap
.
Nope,  after 20 lbs from spare, it only filled it 1/4 of the way up...Must be that 1 to 1 Ratio thing again ?   oops
.

.
So I figured if I cant air up' .....  I'll Air down'   ..... $$ Dollars Later.   punk
.

.
Maybe a huge New On-Board pump will need all these things anyways ....... Right ???
.
No Wait, don't tell me' ......I see another expensive Post in my Future.   dooh
.

I have been thinking it would make sense to have hose and tee's and fittings to air all 4 tires up at once. It would not really be any faster but it would be simple and all would for certain have the exact same pressure.

For $50.00 you can get a good compressor from Costco that will work fine for your tires

You could always pull a spark plug and run the hose from the cylinder to the tire. Start it up and fill your tire with the perfect explosive mixture for combustion. I think JC Whitney sells those little gadgets.
