I know there has been a little talk about on board compressors. The compressor of choice seems to be the york compressor like the one pictured in the other post. I have been digging around and found this york compressor and was wondering if it was just a different configuration but still usable? Any input on advantages or disadvantages would be appreciated.

my understanding is the piston type works better, that being said, I run a stock chevy compressor that'll fill my 40's from 6psi to 25psi in about 15 mins.

John do you use a receiver tank? If so what kind of pressure can you store in it with a vein type of pump?

My understanding is that type of compressor requires some type of inline oiler to keep it working.

I believe the compressor shown is cooled by the freon in the cooling system and not oil.

I ran that same compressor on my cj-7 on the suction side I put a port so I could put a little bit of Marvel Mystery Oil in it to help lubricate it

So how much oil do you put through it? And how... Do you use an oil reservoir and fill it every time you use it? Or do you manually inject oil once in a while?

The 5.9oz refers to the amount of oil you put in the system before it is charged with freon. If you use that type of compressor you have to manually oil it, or run a pre-oiler. They are not as desireable as the pistion type of yorks. I always pick those ones up at the junk yards. I have found that all grand wagonneers have them and early fords. I have a couple sitting around the shop if someone needs one.

If not, I think you can remove the pully and add a serpintine belt type pully to make it work.

I only have the v-belt type. I purchased the serpentine pulley and clutch from napa county. They are for kenworth or peterbuilt big rigs. I dont think any passenger cars came with the serpentine style pulleys.
If you have the $$$$ you can get a complete setup for your jeep with premade brackets and everything. I think its Kilby ent. that sells it.

I've got a York A/C Compressor and the clutch is the V-style belt. I want to change the clutch over to the serpentine 6 grove style that matches my 97 wrangler. Does anyone know the part number for the clutch that is needed? I've found the Kenworth / Freightliner clutchs that should work. one is $135 the other is $106. I was told I could get one for about $40 bucks. Anyone know Where? Thanks
