Some up grades for Corral Canyon have been approved. I just got off the phone with Jan McGarvie she confirmed that the plans for the motorcycle kiddy park is a go and will be started soon it will have a shaded observation area for the parents along with a fenced area for the squirts. It will be between the road and the lower camp ground, around 2 acres. Nice thing is they wont be kicking up dust in camp any longer, and they will be less liable to get squished by a car.

A new single track trail for motorcycles will run the full length of the park. Along with an rock out cropping set aside for the Trials bike events. We will be getting a new more challenging 4x4 trail with several cool obstacles.  And finally a restroom at four corners. The public's obligation  is to supply 10 % of the labor through volunteers such as ourselves.

So our little park will be going through some changes here soon and Im sure we will be involved with some of it. Thanks for all that you guys have done so far, and keep up the good work. ThumbUp

I spoke briefly to Richard Tull (Corral Canyons lead Ranger) this morning...He asked me to send an extended thanks to all the SCUFF Members that have helped in the park as of late. I think we are getting noticed and recognized as a can do / will do group. Thanks for the dedication, and the donation of your time and energy.  SCUFF ROCKS! ThumbUp

Cool! Someplace cool to wheel in summer is getting even better. Holler when it's time to go to work. I don't suppose they'll want us bringing anything more that rakes and shovels eh?

UPDATE...

I sat in on a meeting last Wednesday with Jan and the So Cal Cleveland OHV Park Rangers at the Headquarters in Rancho Bernardo. The meeting was about federal grants for the off road parks maintained my the Cleveland National Forest. Richard Tull of Corral Canyon was present as well as Rangers from Descanso, Palomar, and Trabuco. It was enlightening to see what the monies for the grants are being used for, and how the acquiring of the fund is achieved.

As far as The Ortega hwy. OHV area new pipe railings have been installed to keep off roaders on the approved trails into and out the staging area. It also protects and defines the Tot rider area for their motorcycles and quads. Lots of work and progress in that park.

Corral Canyon is moving forward in the  cutting of new trails. Richards Tull has been active in the trails of America for the last several months. He has been training in the use of the trail making equipment and the proper way to plan, build and maintain trails. This last week they have had a crew in Corral Canyon doing serious maintenance on the trails. He is in the process of flagging new trail routes and doing final prep work that has to be done prior to any cutting.

Richard is a great advocate for the off roader and cares about our future for wheeling. He asks that we help him keep the users of the park well educated on the proper use of the park an its facilities.
Its imperative that we help them keep our park open. Be sure to correct abusers of the park rules and if need be take pics and report the abusers. I know this sounds intrusive and uncool but if we are going to keep it open for our use we need to police the area ourselves. As mentioned by Richard many of the abusers are not wheelers at all... They are just looking for an out of the way place to to Party Hardy and it just gets out of hand... But the damage is done and you know who pays the price!.   Any help will be appreciated!!!!

Very true, my last camping trip at Corral Canyon was less than restful. There was a huge group of *&%%$((^s at the other end of the campground running their rice burners in and out and partying like crazy. Seems that since the alcohol ban at the beaches they are heading inland to be stupid now.

The highlight of the night was when they finally, um, upset, some SDPD friends who were camping next to us (and trying to enjoy a few  Cheers ). They finally got fed up with their idiocy and had a little chat with them. They left quickly  LMAO

I talked with a couple of rangers and a deputy the next dau and they said it's become a big problem in east county.
