I thought I had better start taking some pics of what I have been doing to the Cherokee. It was delivered Monday of this week. The jeep has 84000 original miles on it and is a So Cal car so the rust is minimal. It does need a little rust repair on the driver side floor, but I know a guy that can fix that so its not really an issue. I am the 3rd owner, owner #1 used it for a grocery getter for 33 years. It was sold to owner #2 who started a spring over conversion along with a popular up grade on the fsj Cherokees. He got rid of the single barrel carb and installed a new manifold and 2 barrel carb. Yes it is the fire breathing straight six motor and 3 speed on the floor. Im not sure how long it going to be in this configuration, but its fine for now. The previous owner wanted to do me a favor so he sprayed it black so it is at least one color now. Oh yea, he also threw on an orange stripe for good measure. With that said these first pics are of it earlier this week when I got it. My first Mod thanks to Bigboy for reminding me to get busy...

A full set of TJ flairs were donated to the project. It was free so it was going to happen. I did the driver side front flair first and I think its going to look ok! I also lost the grill, I always liked the RHINO GRILL look so I will be making something along that line soon.

Thanks Andrew, The more I think about it, I think Im going to turn it into a Expedition / Adventure rig. Its not really suited for the tight twisty stuff like the TJ's etc are. But it should be just fine cruising the desert on a longer trips...

Just armor it up a bit, you'll be fine. Looking read good, BTW. I just might have to try to get one of those to put my drivetrain in.

I haven't even driven it yet but I cant believe the 6 cylinder and 3 speed on the floor are going to be getting me very far. Its a 74 so I could rectify that problem relatively easy. Maybe a 454 with a 700r?

You might check this out if my buddy Rick passes on it. If I had some bucks I'd grab it for someday in my CJ-7 that is probably going to be my son's. He already wants to go work on "his" Jeep all the time...and he's 3.5 yrs old! http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=759426

Hmmm, I happen to know someone (<--------) who has a Buick 350/TH400/Dana 20 combo out of an early 70's Jeep that would work nicely in that there FSJ.

Thanks for the offer, I think Im going to go the Burb way... Throttle body 350, turbo 400, xfer case ect. I can pick up a real nice Burb for $2500.00 with all the good stuff on it. A little body damage but Im not going to use that. It should be just fine for what I am going to be doing. Now Im glad I have the extra fuel tank in it. LOL

I know of someone selling a supercab F250 4x4 with a 460 in it. I think he wants 1200, but it would be a shame to ditch the supercab

Nice, another full size! maybe I will let ya wheel with me ;)
I know of a crew cab chevy with a 350/th400/np205 for $1500 if you're interested. Maybe less if he still has it.
I'd love a crew cab body with an extra shorty bed on my rig :)
