Does anyone know how to, or if its possible to convert an old empty keg into a gas tank for my Jeep?  One of my next projects is to move my gas tank from underneath the jeep to the back of the inside of the tub to make room for a wheelbase stretch.  I have two empty kegs and was thinking it may look cool/different if instead of the old tank I use one of the kegs as the new tank.  I thought I had seen this on a few buggies before and no I'm not thinking of a propane tank, although that would be great also.  It would look like your wheeling with a keg in your rig, it's a trail rig only so I'm not worried about the legal issue more of the safety concerns.  Anyways, any input on this bright idea.  If it matters, I don't have to worry about a fuel pump either.    punk clown

I gotta bring up a point on this.  If you bought the kegs from a salvage yard you may own them, you may not.  If you just paid the deposit you do NOT own those kegs.  If they are AB or Coors you do not own them.

Stealing kegs is a big problem, especially for the little guys.  Kegs cost close to $200 each, and the deposit you put down on them is a deposit.

Having said that, if you own them they should work as a tank.  Probably not legal.

That'd be an interesting project.
The hard part would be keeping people (especially Jimmy) from drinking your gas. ;)

More than a couple of years ago I had a Chenworth buggy and had a polished beer keg for a gas tank, and back in the day it was pretty common on some style street rods along with beer tap shifter  ThumbUp

Moon and speedway motors used to sell them...

A cool gas tank idea I saw once was four jerry cans cut and welded together (new ones - no fumes for welding) to make a twenty gallon gas tank. Looked like they were mounted in a rack in the back of a truck with the spare for trail use but they were permanently set, pretty slick looking

Might want to add some fuel safe foam.

Better yet! A keg of beer on the back of the jeep would be way cool... Cheers
