Starting my ?rear crusher corner & tube fender? install.  Purchased some River Raider Rear Tube Fenders and their Rear JK Crusher Corners soem time back.  These rear tube fenders were the best match to my Poison Spyder Customs front tube fenders.  The package arrived little more than a week after ordering.  The plan is to have them coated with Rhino-Lining? to match the front tube fenders, and then install LED rear taillights to replace the bulky stock units.

Packaged together:

Rear fender:

Driver?s rear corner:

Driver?s rear corner w/ LED light:

Passenger factory fender on the JK

Used a ?door panel puller? tool to ?pop? the plastic clips

Passenger inner wheel well liner

Passenger wheel well sans liner

Wheel well cleaned with helper

?Door panel puller? tool and small needle-nose pliers to remove the fender clips (each one removed without breaking)

Fender-less

Dry fit tube fender with some help

Trimmed pitch seam

Passenger tire without fender

Passenger tire without fender

Inner wheel well liner with tape measure for cut line

Inner liner with cut line (a heat gun and a sharp razor, the plastic cuts like butter)

Trimmed inner liner re-installed

Dry fit rear passenger Crusher Corner

Rear photo of JK without rear fenders

The Tube Fenders and the Crusher Corners have been coated with Rhino-Lining?.  Now the install begins.

Why do they have you cut such a large hole?

Why do they have you cut such a large hole?

I was puzzled by the size of the hole at first, as well.  I tried to just cut a hole big enough to fit the "frenched" area for the LED tailights; but the cornder didn't "fit" right.  Then, I discovered why: the rear corner of the JK actually curves in at least two directions --> from side to side, as well as, from top to bottom (the bottom cuvres in as it approaches the bumper area.)  Thus, if the "top to bottom curve" was not cut out, the corners do not "fit" correctly.

Honestly, after cutting the first monster hole on the passenger side, I thought to myself, "am I really that nuts?"

Nice work Ty!  When are you going to break them in?

Thanks!  When is the next wheelin' trip?  I'd love to go back up to Big Bear and run some of those trails somemore (actually, one of the reasons I got the "crusher corners" was because I smashed the rear driver-side on a Gold Mountain run several months ago.

About breaking them in: I have no idea, really.  Maybe Spring Break; the 2009 T-ball season has just started and we have games every Saturday (both of my boys are on the team, and I'm the head coach, so no playing hooky for me.)

So, I found some time during the week, and decided to install the rear tube fenders.  With a little help from the 4 year old, we were able to slap these things on in no time.

BEFORE (new fenders, but after stockers):

AFTER (sneak peak):

Taped up to better see the hole locations:

Tape with the new/enlarged holes drilled:

Little helper with a "well-nut:"

Installing the "well-nuts:"

Rear Passenger Tube Fender installed:
