I spent the morning at Pick-Your-part in Chula Vista, half-price weekend so one more day...

Ran across several Ford front Dana 60's, more 8.8's than I cared to count, at least one XJ with a D44 and loads of HP D30's, three FSJ's with Dana 44's in front, an early Bronco that was fairly complete and on and on

If you're looking for an axle it will cost you about $130 out the door for a complete axle with caliper/drums/locking hubs/knuckles, whatever if you go on a half-price day, like tomorrow ;D

A good opportunity

Normally Id be all over it!... I never even thought about pick a part? Ive more than spent my allowance for the toys this month... Harley registration, used tax and all. But I will take a rain check on a trip down there.

Well the good thing is they, and Ecology, have been running half-price weekends every couple of months. We usually make a junkyard run every couple of months to see what we can find. I'll have to do a post of unusual but useful things we've discovered.

What are the chances of picking up an 85-91 or 78-79 front ford 60 out at that yard?

Probably pretty good at Pick-Your part, there was at least ten rows of trucks, the vast majority of which were Fords and most of those in and around those year ranges. Worth two bucks to go take a look.

Also check the Ecology domestic yard across the street and the Ecology mixed yard up by Brown Field.

But, if you don't find what you're after you have to keep going back, the inventory changes constantly. During our last trip they replaced two complete rows of trucks alone with new stock. Also, Pick Your Part usually has at least two rows of RV/motorhomes and large vans, some big ol axles under those things,,
