Hello. I just signed up and figured I would introduce myself. I am a Gunnery Sergeant in the US Marines and I have been in the Marines for a little over 13 years. I live at the northern part of Camp Pendleton (San Clemente). I just finished my 3rd deployment to Iraq and I purchased a 1946 CJ2a. It has a Buick 225 V6 and I just added some wheel spacers and 33" BFG KM2 Mudders. I also have a 2004 Ford F250 Diesel for hauling the jeep around and as my daily driver. The jeep is in pretty good shape and I don't want to tear it up but I do want to do some mild off roading. I recently came across a set of Dana 44 axles from an old Cherokee/Wagoneer. The axles should work for my Willys because the pinions are both offset to the passenger side which is what I need. I don't know how to do the work myself but I need to get them narrowed to fit under my jeep. I'm sure I will need new axles, drums and breaks in the rear, discs and calipers for the front, locking hubs for the front and I don't know what the gearing is in the axles. I would also need the spring perches on the rear axle moved to the bottom for a spring under like the front. Is there anyone that can do this work at a reasonable price. I don't want to do the axle swap if it's going to cost me an arm and a leg.

Here are a few pics of the Willys. I took it out to Anza Borrego a few months ago and had a good time.

Well, that didn't work. I guess I'll have to figure out how to post pics on here before I can show the Willys off.

If you are having problems uploading pictures directly from your computer try going through photobucket. If you aren't familiar with photobucket, under "Website information/Problem" there is a topic by the name of "Photo Posting through Photobucket". That should help guide you through the photobucket process of copy and pasting from photobucket to the reply/post that you want the picture in.

First of all welcome, and second, THANK YOU very much for doin what you do. If it wasn't for men like yourself (and women also) we would not be able have the freedom to do the things we all love to do like being able to explore this beautiful country with our off road vehicles. so again, THANK YOU very much.
Also, thats a pretty cool looking jeep!! Later.
