So the bright idea today was, everybody was up early let's go ahead and buzz on out for the run. After finding my Jeep DOA at Jeff's and spending an hour getting it started we went on to Plan B:

Daniel picked up his Jeep yesterday with it's shiny new long arm so let's not waste the day, we'll head up to Corral Canyon and see how it flexes. So off we go. Stop in El Cajon for gas, walk in to get some breakfast snacks while the jeep is filling up, walk back out and lo and behold, gas is pouring out the bottom of the Jeep.

Get that taken care of and finally hit the I-8. Make it out to Corral Canyon, get through the washboards, hit the blacktop, Death Wobble, bad. Limp to Four Corners and find the track bar rattled loose.

Now a thinking man would've said something along the lines of this is not shaping up to be a good day, maybe I'll just go home and spend a nice day relaxing.

So with that in mind we said let's run up to the top of Bronco Peak and back down again and check out Daniel's lift.

Several hours later, a toasted tow strap, smoking winch, tons of dirt, some heavy-duty trail maintenance/work, a blown water pump, a body damage extravaganza and helping out some new friends on the trail we finally made it all the way across Bronco Peak trail and Gunslinger and back to Four Corners at sunset.

What a day, will post up more pics tomorrow,

It was a good day, although long and hot. I got the farmer/red neck sun burn but well worth it.

Thanks Steve and Daniel for your company....oh yeah, thanks to the group that was in front of us on Bronco Peak. My skid plates worked well  clap

Looks like the main route was blocked by that jagged rock in those pics. Was it?  taz

That it was. The bad thing was that way it ended up on the trail it was almost impossible to safely pass. I wouldn't try it on my best day. It sat on the high side of the trail with an almost four foot drop and a small ravine down to one side. it would have required one side up on top of the rock and the other on a downhill slope with less tha 48"s to work with. It was the spot I almost rolled at a year ago, it was much worse now.

That group that was down there never would have made that trail and someone was heading for the hurt. A lot of winching and creative use of plain ol hard work, pry bars, shovels, snatch blocks and tow straps (it ruined my best strap...) and the trail is now passable, but still hard enough that the faint of heart (or anybody with an inkling of common sense)  want nothing to do with it. It has gone from downright scary to frightening in that fun way that only someone who has sat in the driver's seat watching the ground and rocks come closer and closer to the driver's door thinking, Hmm, I wonder, just what is my rollover angle?, knows  ThumbUp
