Well i finally have the motor back in my 98 TJ and ready to fire is up. I realised that there is an extra vacuum port on the intake manifold next to where the brake booster connects. I did not remove the manifold, and have no idea what should connect to it.
Any one have a chart of the vacuum connections??.. I did find an extra vacuum hose just now that also I have no idea where is goes,. but it is too small to connect to the 3/8" fitting that is open.
If I knew how to post a pic I would, another thing that I need to learn...
1998 TJ 2.5 4 banger, ( all new, just ready to fire but not with that big hole in the manifold.)
Thanks,

There should be a rubber boot that the hose goes into. I'll run out to my jeep and see where it goes, but I think it's the vac for you heater / vent controls

Thanks Mike,
I have the hose that is in the 90 deg rubber boot, goes to the fuel pressure regulator, and to the right side of the jeep, Allong with the brake booster. no idea about the other connector. there is -3- 3/8 dia connectors, and a smaller one..
Went back to check on the heater control line, it was not connected. realised that it should connect to the 3/16 fitting in the top of the manifold in cylinder 4 runner.
Now, I had a line going from the valve cover fitting towards the front of the cover, to that fitting using a hose that I thought was the right one but it is not.
It looks like that valve cover fitting goes to the intake, maybe one of the 3/8 connectors using a reducer as I found the hose that was connected to the valve cover, it had oil in it... Now need to determin if that is correct.
The hose connected to the 90 deg elbow is going into the fuel tank vapor system, that one should b e correct.
Is there a posting about how to post pic's?? I just took some, but no idea how to post them.

I looked at mine.. from the brake booster first 3/8 fitting goes to a valve cover vent. second one in line goes to a sensor in your wiring harness, and the last one goes to the vacum lines that work your Ac - heater / vent controls. I've got a chilton's book if you need it.

Well the 6 cyl and the 4 banger are differant, but good that I looked as a vacuum line on my YJ was cracked... another thing to fix.
I think that the lines are correct now that I have the correct hose going from the valve cover to the manifold. at least all the connections are connected.
Now to verify the electrical stuff, wont fire at all, no pop back or anything. Time to verify the basics again, and maybe the gas is just too old, it doesn't smell too good.... at least it has fuel pressure... Then there is the question of the injectors are plugged in correctly... all the normal stuff that I normally label when pulling out a motor, but I bought this one with the head already off, and a nice hole in the #1 piston....
But if it was easy anyone could fix this,,
thanks, again,,, will post up some pics when I get it running.. Danie is getting excited to start driving soon, so the pressure is on to get it finished.

It might pay to double check the crank sensor.

Well in the words of the great Dr. Frankstine... "It's ALIVE"..... We have another running Jeep. Yes it was one of the basics, Distributor in 180 off... and getting all the air out of the fuel rail. Now to start working off the squawk sheet, 1: top tank on the radiator is leaking 2: Light under the dash on passengers side not working, 3: fan belt squeaking, 4: rear view mirror fell off on test drive... 5: locking gas cap will not open.. 6: if handles funny, OK maybe that's cuz it a TJ and I like my JY.... At least is has over 20 miles on it and it runs great... Thanks for the help...

I'm still in need of the manual, the heater core is bad and needs to be replaced. Now the Jeep sat for 1 1/2 years waiting for Danielle to be old enough to drive it and I did not fix the heater. Now that it is running, I need to fix the heater.... it's always the way, Now both Danie and Mom want a lift and bigger tires.... I tried explaining the start of any Jeep process is cubic $$$ but that did not stop them. So yes, having the manual would be a great big ...... Glenn

Get a PM to 4x4grey88 (Jimmy), he has a complete HVAC unit with a good heater core for a TJ for sale.
Drop me a PM, we'll see if we can get around the same place at the same time and I'll get you a copy of the manual
