Its an optical illusion, its welded back about 1/2" behind the cover... Thanks Ted and good seeing you today. ThumbUp We tied down the ends and jacked up the center while we welded it. That should compensate for heat draw from the welds... Wish we could do something for them axles to make them more sturdy and less Turdy. ThumbUp

I guess I meant welding the diff.  Isn't the diff a cast iron?  Isn't that supposed to be harder to weld?  Either way, it looks nice and I am sure that it will be a lot more sturdy to boot.

That diff is "cast steel".   "Cast iron" requires preheat, postheat, use of Ni55 or Ni99 filler metal with stress relief. Cast steel is just regular stuff that welds nicely. The trick is figuring which is which. ThumbUp

I thought about sleeving it and then trussing it, but that would have been waay to much work. I am going to throw it under the Jeep tonight, and and put it all back together. Ill post up a pic of under the Jeep.
