My jeep cj8 has the origional 4.2L six cyl. After exploring many swap options, I've decided to rebuild the origional. Upgrades will be done obviously. Like swapping to the 4.0L head, new carb, new exhaust, and hopefully a rebuilt ax15 five speed. Does anyone know of a reliable place to have the block rebuilt? I'm still debating weather to pull the engine myself or just have them do it for me. Has anyone done the 4.0L head swap on a cj before? Any input would be appreciated.

I had my 4.2 rebuilt at Kenyon Machine. They did a nice job and pretty fast too. Cost me about $1200 for all brand new parts and machine work.

Did Kenyon pull the engine or did you bring it to them? I actually called and talked to them already. It's good to have a good reference for them. Thanks!

I pulled. As I recall I dropped it off on a saturday and picked it up the following saturday. Has been about two years.  Kenyon gave me a tip to use Sparky's transmission on Adams ave and they were great too.

I have reffered others and all good reports.
