I use a Warn M8000 myself but I wheel a Zuk, I don't have all that extra weight ( punch line folks!  ;)   )  I chose the Warn for reputation, quality and found a pretty good price, if I had something bigger I would have stayed with a Warn anyway. I'm sure the others are good as well but I'm not familiar with there history.

I have a Smittybilt XRC8. I've heard they compare to the Warn, but cost much less. http://www.4wheelparts.com/ has a good internet special occasionally. I got mine for around $285. That's with the 20% internet deal they had going on. Regular is like $325.

I would rather have a WARN just because of their rep as a great product I currently have a 8000lb Milemarker that has worked great I've never had to use it to get myself out but I've probably used it 10 times or more to help the other guy. I have two compliants with the Milemarker, I feel they should have made the housing a little larger where the two supports go over the drum because when I was winching a friend up a hill on Cleghorn the cable wound on top of itself and pushed the two supports up and broke the mounts on the housing & the unloaded speed is too slooooooow.

I would prefer the warn myself BUTTT I got NO $$$$....  So I recently purchased a new Smittybuilt XRC 10 with roller fairlead for $380. I have used it twice. The second time was a pretty serious pull. My buddy broke a lower balljoint at the bottom of a slope and I had to winch him up it on 3 wheels. the belly dragging over the top. At that point it was pulling my jeep towards him, so we hooked another jeep to my jeep to keep me planted and was able to pull him over.

the cable end where it bolts to the spool came loose, among further inspection I noticed the screw sheered off (probably because the cable wasnt wound tight from the factory and the cable pushed down on the screw while winching . I called smittybuilt and they were GREAT, shipped me a new spool and screw. I removed the broken screw and replaced it then respooled the cable. So now I have a spair.

In this economy, IMO this is a good product ( So far )!!

 Heres the slope!!
