with some help from moorehouse i was able to get the gauge set in and working right. now ive been in the process or tearing out my old stereo and speakers and putting in the ones my wife got me for christmas. the stereo and reaar speakers wasnt a problem but the front speakers are turning out to be quite difficult. but after tearing out the rest of my ac components i think i got a place for both of them. ill post some pics when i get done. hopefully tomorrow.

well i got 5.29 gears on the way. along with all the bearing and parts to rebuld the diffs. still gonna be a while until i can put them in. but im just one step closer.

i plan on putting on the trail gear 4 inch front lift kit. which comes with all the parts to rebuild the front axle as well as put in the high steer. i also plan on up grading all the power steering components so that i can run hydraulic assist.

i still need to buy the lift, the ifs steering box, and locker for the front. (i think) im tryign to get it all piece by piece because its easier for me to save parts than it is money. i probally could have had this done by now if i did this to begin with.

in the rear i plan on doing a 4 link but im not touching that for a while. ill probally just go to national spring and have them make me a set of springs for the rear that match the front in articulation that way i dont have good in the front and reall  001_9898 y in the rear.

i would run the trailgear threes up front  and 4s in the rear  just cause of the rear  weight of  a runner
the lower u keep it the more stable it is     im basicly running a 2in lift on 37s  and have plenty of clearance

i was wanting to do a 4 link in the rear. yeah i ment to type 3 inch for the lift kit. fat fingers.

what did you do to get your tires to fit. ive got 3" right now with a procrap lift and 33" tires and those things rub on everything. i was wanting to move the axle forward a bit but didnt know if i had to modify the frame and drive shaft. i was thinkging about moving ahead about 3 inches.

in all reality  with out extending ur frame  u will be able to move it forward maybe 1 3/4 in    we got mine moved forward  3.5 due the the fron spring hanger beingmoved and also the spring choice i made
allpro buggy springs have a center pin already moved 2 in forward  and with a combo of the 1.5 in froward with the sring hanger  yeilded a final wb of 116.5  i started with 113    also cut 2wd fenders

yes drive shafts will have to be modified cause the added travel  and being moved forward  and  i would suggest with a  low lift and highster  get  a flat pitman arm and use that right off the bat  i have to do this  i bind on the spring when drive side is stuffed   ill try to get some pics up later  to show u

i have so many little thins i want to redo to make it work  better   but  i cant really complain  i have now  jst about 3 seasons on the full build and havent really had any problems  and im not exactly nice to this thing and its my daily driver

if u want     give these guys a call  jay and eric at yotamasters.com   freinds of mine    this is what they do and  are very good at explaining stuff    1 951 279 0220  or just ask me here    ill do my best

it doesnt seem like it would be to much work to extend the frame 3 inches and move both the front and back shackle mounts forward. would that be a better set up. i do plan at some point in the distant future want to put 37" tires, link the front and move the axle forward enough that the tires would stick out past the truck.

do you know if the trial gear springs will have the pin moved forward? im definately going to give those guys at yota masters a call.

i decided that instead of buying a locker next i would get a new clutch kit. it seemed like mine was heading on out the last time i ran a trail so i figured i should get a new one first, that way if it goes out before i start doing all the work i can just swap it out sooner.

i got one of those fancy ceramic deals from trail gear. when i had the taco i put in a really nice one from centerforce. it was right orange and the pressure plate had fancy weights on the little pressure fingers. it was really nice having that. never had a fancy ceramic one though. i hope it works out good.

im startin to really tear these things up. they are starting to become more of an issue than a help on the trail. yeah next is 35's. but i dont quite know what i want. i was thinking about a set of those new mtr's. or maybe the KM2's. i had a set of 31" KM2's on my taco and i loved em but they wore out really fast on the road, then again i was driving from yuma to san diego every weekend. i was thinking about iroks too. i really dont know what way i want to go. i know eventually i want 37" pit bull rockers. but i dont want them now.

i dont use it that much on the road. its my daily driver when i dont have acces to the jeep. havent driven it since sunday. WOW. thats a long time. i didnt realize its been that long.

so i got my clutch the other day. actually like a week ago. the pressure plate is the shiniest thing i have ever seen. i think some one spent more time polishing it than actually putting the thing together. its gonna be the shiniest thing on my truck by far. to bad nobodys gonna get to see it. ill see if i can get a pic up later.

I need to get a locker for the fron end of the truck and i want to get a detroit. right now i have an aussie in the rear and have had no problems with it at all. it works perfect and doesnt give me any issues on the road or driving slow in a parking lot making sharp turns.

my question is: if i keep the aussie and get a detroit which i know by nature is a stronger unit. which axle should i put what? would i be better off with the detroit up front or in the rear?

Detroits are really good lockers but the road manners are a little rough.  You do get used to them but since your aussie is already installed and is working really well for you I say leave it alone and put the Detroit in the front.

IMO I would put the Aussie in the front and the Detroit in the rear. The rear ring & pinion takes more abuse and the Detroit will be able to handle the abuse better than the Aussie. I have Detroit's front & rear in my 85 4runner and love them. Driving on the street I do get an occasional clunk bang as it locks or unlocks while turning but you get use to it. Offroad in 4WD with the Detroit it is harder to turn and I have to back up some times to let it unlock then turn. So hydraulic steering assist like a rock ram would help. Or an ARB air locker in the front to unlock while turning. Another thing I found out is the stock steering J-arm don't hold up well with the front locked, need to upgrade to hysteer crossover steering.
