There has been talk on how to shift the Jeep AW4 automatic transmission with out the ECU. I found this the other day and I know there are a few other mfg's as well. Just a FYI here.

This is sorta what I'm looking for if I do the AW-4 swap.  I know in racing it's all about going forward, fast; but in the rocks I might want to go backwards on occasion, would have to work out a backwards switch...

I think the reverse is a manual function and the reason you need to keep the original shifter?

Hmm, interesting, a twin-stick. Imagine with an Atlas with a twin-stick. it could get crowded
