I'm a newbie with this GPS stuff, so please bear with me.....I'm doing some research online, but figured I'd throw it out here as well.....Got a Blackberry this past weekend, with all the widgets and whistles. It's through Sprint, and as such has the "Sprint Navigation" application preloaded, which looks to be normal "Tom-Tom" type GPS/Navigation, with the streets and highways, turn by turn, all that.....but it doesn't show any "off-highway" areas, just kinda blank background once you get away from any major road. So, my question is, does anybody know of any downloadable GPS maps for the Blackberry 8310?

I don't have any direct information but I do have a Palm Pre with Sprint Navigation. It's pretty cool when it works but about half the time I get "Unable to set current location" so it has no idea where it is located. See if yours is more depandable before investing any effort in it.

Download the Google Maps app. It should work with your GPS and give you most everything Google Maps gives you on a computer.

I have the firt storm with the updated OS (5.0) and both google maps and the blackberry map that comes with the phone both work weel with GPS.  I used the GPS and directions function on my phone when I was in Virginia for the first time.  Flew into DC and had to drive down to Dahlgren.  I was able to set up the drive on my phone and use it as a GPS system.  There also some good 3rd party apps in the Blackberrry ap store that work pretty good as well.  I use GPSed when I mountain bike.  It records distance, elevation, speed, as well as the track that I run.  I can upload to the GPSed server and map out my ride.  If I buy the advanced copy, the program will send my real time track to their server every 30 seconds, so in theory, I could have someone follow my ride at home.  They would know where I am if I got hurt or something.  Overall, some pretty cool features.  Dont know how well all of them work, but it is a good beginning.
