So how remote and rugged is that area??

SAN DIEGO -- 8-3-08 --  A 125-acre brush fire along a remote and rugged stretch of the U.S.-Mexican border near Otay Mesa burned itself out Sunday...

The blaze was reported around 8:30 p.m. Saturday south of the intersection of Otay Mountain and Minnewawa truck trails, Capt. Steve Foster said.

The area was so inaccessible that firefighters who responded to the initial report couldn't reach the area in the dark, so they returned Sunday morning...

Now that's rough when the firefighters can't get there in the dark..

It's the roughest, toughest trail around. It's for the extreme only ;D Ok maybe not!! That's to bad that area had to burn, there is some nice valleys back in there, but I couldn't see them not being able to get back there.

Since the fires its been tamed! The roads are graded and very smooth from the Border Patrol traffic. There are a few lesser traveled roads that have not been improved for sometime. I would say at worst they are poorly maintained fire brakes. maybe a 2+ in spots a 3-.

Sorry about my earlier responce I didnt catch this was a recient fire! I think the only reason they would have a hard time is because of the lack of roads. Maybe they just couldnt get to it?
