I need to replace my steering (tie rods) after I bent the crap out of it. My question is:

What is the right way to go?  Does anyone make a good heavy duty setup? Can I replace the knuckles and do a home built high steer on a TJ?

I know get Dana 44.  no  It's just that I have my Dana 30 set up with a locker and gears so I don't want to replace it yet.

I have Googled and Googled and this seems to look like it would be a good bank for your buck. No mods... just bolt it on.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

seems like a pretty good price.  I think i paid a little over $100 for just the factory replacement rod on my wagon not including the rod ends or drag link.  what were you doing when you folded that tie rod?

I got these inserts about a year ago and never got around to installing them, someday.

they let you reverse the taper in the knuckle and put the tie rod on top rather than underneath.

I'm thinking both of these would be a cheap and easy solution.

Looking at that picture, it looks like those knucles are set up for cross over steering.

Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn't I just get 4 heim ends, 4 weld in bungs, and some Chromoly tubing, and have the same type setup that sells for $700.00

I think that might work as long as the knuckles will bolt up to the axle your gonna use.

Yes but heims wear out faster than TRE's especially o the street.  And with heims you have to drill out the taper in the knuckles so you have to be sure the bolts are always tite or the knuckles will get ovaled out.  The trick is chevy 1 ton TRE's and chromoly tubing.  I have the tap for the 7/8 18 chevy TRE's both left and  right hand thread

These are good moog part numbers
ES2027L Drag link upper
ES2026R Drag link lower
ES2234R Tie rod drivers side
ES2233L Tie rod passenger side reamed out for lower drag link

Do you use weld in bungs? Or tap the tubing?

Wow!!!  Way too much work involved there!!!  What's the point of going to all that trouble and machine work just to do that swap???  Whats so special about it?

I dunno, some folks like projects. I was just looking into a "high steer" set up. Not an easy task for a TJ.
