That was fun. clap.. Dusty and I had to go help a fellow wheeler that had broken his motor mount out on Sidewinder. Dusty tack welded two nuts to the broken bolts that had sheared off inside the engine block. He was able to back out the broken pieces reinstall the bracket and  get Miguelitojeep back on his way.
By the time we got back the first trail had been finished. 4x4CORPS guys were running the trail, So we desided to run it in reverse. I see lots of future lines that could be added and some fine tuning to be made.  clap

We finished our evening off by running Bronco Peak and coming down the connector when it happened.... Rear axle R.I.Pieces last 200feet my jeep turned in to a one legged popcorn machine. Winch and towed it off the trail. Rode home with Dusty and picked the trailer and got it back home. Time for some up graded axle shafts.  EnoughAlready

Thanks to everyone that came out. See ya' on the trail  punk

I just want to remind everyone to stay on the trail that was laid out. We cant be blowing across virgin ground just because its there. The most important part of having a trail is staying on it! At least until we get fencing up, signs made, and boundaries set. If anyone sees tracks of vehicles going where they shouldn't please post it up here so we can get on it with fencing and stop it before it turns into a problem. Last thing we need is those kinds of issues before we even get it established...  Its important we police our trail!

So fill me in on all the additional flags out there... What are they marking? Should we remove them so there isn't any confusion?

Mike.   you were running the motorcycle portion of the trail.  It is a little confusing  because the 4x4 trail just goes out to the big rock slab, turns around and comes back the way you went in.
After running (and breaking on) sidewinder I went back to the trail dig and helped out. I asked a ton of questions to the park rangers and realized that most of the cool trail we had walked earlier belonged to the motorcyclists.

Because of this I am gonna stir the pot a little bit. We have the opportunity right now to have what ever kind of trail we want, as long as its within 50 ft of the red flags. I think we need to go out there with a little more of a game plan next time and figure out how to make some difficult obstacles, and tougher lines. Let me know what you think.

David Chappelle.
P.S.
I am totally greatfull of the opportunity given. It is truly amazing. Now lets make sure its gonna be fun in the future before we have to nail the trail down in stone.

helpsmilie Sorry, I missed that information while I was out on 911 duty. I see all these flags scattered here and there thinking that its an optional line (didn't try any) or something. stupid I guess I didn't understand the two trails overlapped one another. Sure would be nice if there was a sketch or a google earth view of the paths we're to follow for both the 4wd and bike... 2cents
So what trail did we bust open?

Bob,

Let me know if I am wrong here. From all I could gather the trail goes out to the big rock slab and turns around.

It goes out to the rock cropping then turns left or south to continue to trail 11 again. It is a loop. The flags we were looking at when we went over that rock cropping was for the single track trials guys. That is where Richard intercepted us and put us back on coarse. But we do go up to and on that cropping then turn left or south and exit it through that little valley.  Does this make any since to you? Im not sure Im saying it so it makes since?

I know Richard has the GPS coordinates for the extra trails.  I think that should be the plan of action the next time out.  If we have those mapped ahead of time we can eliminate the guess work.  That along with the 50 ft to either side rule, that would give us some great flexability to make a great trail.  But I think right now is the time to be very careful out there as there is a lot of obvious confusion in regards to the flag system.  We might want to buy/ aquire some different colored flags to help eliminate some of that confusion.

I think we have a lot to work with on that upper flat where you go between the big rocks also I think we can make another V like on Bronco Peak by that pile of rock near the first big bush

It was a good time getting out and breaking trail with you guys! & putting names and faces w rigs too.  I was with the crew that started on the other side of the trail until my retarded lizard-hunting, bird-chasing, snake-bait dog wandered off on me... censored Thanks to Snotrocket and XJRated for the help tracking her down.   Cheers

I'm pumped to see how the trail develops in the near future. Pix and vids are great! considering I missed the bulldozing dodge.  Good to see a trail being opened instead of closed.

Great weekend, great turnout. Thanks for the pics/vids everyone. Only cost me a couple chunks outta my tires and a few plugs in...

Trail definitely needs to have some harder optional obstacles. It's a challenge loop, not another Gunslinger. That parks needs more hard stuff. I think the trail should be established to go over the hard stuff with some go-arounds...because you know it's gonna happen anyway. On the one hand, if you can't do the obstacles, you shouldn't be on the trail, on the other, if you have a mixed group or break your rig and are lim[ing out, go-arounds are nice. Optional stuff like Truckhaven and Super's mudhills is what I love 'cause there's something for everyone from my buddy's rock buggy to my tank to a built Jeep to a stock Sami.

Maybe we should bring a couple hardcore rigs out and run the big stuff.

Then fencing is Definitely going to be needed.

thats why you have a gatekeeper on it to keep out the lesser rigs if you have been up to JohnBull in the last 6 months they moved a ton of boulders into the begining of the trail

Oh, BTW, the post-Corral Canyon  Carveacre/Pancake Vega extraction was an easy success. Like dragging a trash can, only way I could tell it was still attached was by the noise. Small 4 banger unibody doesn't weigh much.
