I have a 99 Wrangler TJ. We are going to Death Valley first week in March and I want to flat tow my Jeep behind my friends RV. I found a free tow bar on Craig's List, but now have to hook up to my bumper. I heard that under the rubber bumper stops the tow brackets can be mounted to the frame. If this is not correct. besides having to buy a special bumper, can I put the brackets on my stock bumper?

Thoughts? Suggestions offer to weld these things to my Jeep? I am located in palm springs, ca.

Thanks,

Andy

Post a picture of the bumper and the brackets. I have put a few tow bars on before. You might need to put a piece of metal behind the stock bumper to make it strong enough.

Andy I put a piece of 1/2"x3" flat bar wider than the frame behind the factory bumper, then tied my tow bar brackets into that

I am ordering the brackets today....the bumper is a stock TJ bumper...I will use the flat bar idea behind it. I might have to find a shop to cut me some...but it's an easy thing. I don't have a garage, just a parking space...so no tools for metal work.

Thanks for the feedback.. I will post photos once I get all the parts together. I have two weeks left.....
