a buddy of mine in yuma has been planning on doing a sas on a 97 tacoma 3.4l v6.

what would be the best axle to put in the front of the truck? weve been looking at a front waggoneer axle cause the pumpkin is on the drivers side. does anybody know anyone whos done this swap before? or where can i find a waggoneer axle. for cheap.

thanks.

If you use a wagoneer axle it has to be one from an 80's wagon.  The 70's wagoneers had passenger side pumkin.  The pick a part in Chula Vista has two of them and they want $207 for an axle from disc to disc on half price day sales.  There is also a 80 wagon in the domestic side of ecology but I don't know how much they want for it.

4wheeldrive & sport utility magazine did an article on swapping a dana 60 in to 3.4 Tacoma using an Allpro offroad lift. Here's the link.

theres been all kinda of swaps like that that have been done just take a look in the az section of ttora

but unless ur running a 42in tire or bigger      60s are a waste because the loss of ground clearance

what type of wheeling is he planning on doing   if hes lookin into rock crawling   i wouldnt waste my time on a 44  if just a trail runner  44 would be fine     tire size also come into play  anything bigger than  ltes say a 33 ur gonna end up wanting to change those axle shafts just because of the fact they are 30+ years old and they wont hold up to much abuse especially with a front locker

he's plannin on doing some alot of tril blazin with the ability to go rock crawlin if necessary. he does alot of hunting and wants to be able to bring his truck any where. right now he's sittin on 35" xterrains. definately plans on rebuilding the 44 and having it geared with the rear and puttin in a locker. i know the geras he wants are 5.29 and im not sure if he is going to put in a detroit or a selectable locker.

if he sticks with the 44   have him  get a set of cromo shafts with those 35s  and that gearing    wich  im not exctly positive u can go that high         personally   i would stick toyota the stuff is cheap enough to find  the most expensive this is the housing and axle shafts   the rest u can use the stuff from trailgear    or junk yard   and they will be able to handle 40in tires as lon as hes not an extreme throttle jockey
