Hey I was doing some thinking and was really looking into outboarding the rear shocks. Has anybody had any experience with this? whats the advantages? How much would it usually cost?

I'm looking to be running foxes both front and rear and eventually going to run coil-overs

So any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I just did this Mod. back in Feb.

whats the advantages? You can run longer shocks and move the shock mount up higher on the axle tube. Less stuff hanging below the axle to get hung up on.
Good how to: http://www.stu-offroad.com/suspension/rearshock/rearshock-1.htm
Bought my brackets from PartsMike: http://www.partsmike.com/store/store.php?crn=221&start=2

After you drop $225.00 a piece on those Fox Shocks and then go get Coilovers I'll take those Fox's off your hands.  ThumbUp If you are going to coilover your TJ I would hold off on spending $1000.00 for temporary shocks. Unless you want to!

Missed the part about going to coilovers... this mod would be a waste of time, cuz you would probalbly want to do this mod for coilovers

They are all pricy... Sway a way has nice stuff.. http://www.swayaway.com/ShockAbsorbers.php
Also like Ballistic Fab http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Ballistic-SHOCKS_c_110.html
If get the ball rolling on my project, I thinking of running coilovers in the front and air shocks in the rear..
save about 5 bills

i'm also a member of dezertrangers and they have some great deals on shocks. so i'll just get them there. and me probably doing the coilover set-up would probably be in the next 2-4 years, so alot of time between now and then

FOA makes coilovers that are VERY cheap in $$, but if you want performace, go with sway-away, fox, or king. i'm still thinking about the coilovers that would be best for what i want to do, and i'm probably going with kings. but thats just my thoughts

I did this on mine, similar to the PP kit.  I never drove the rig with a different setup but this seems to be working well.  I'm not sure I'd have room for coilovers though, airshocks should fit fine.
