I'm planning on building some new upper and lower control arms. I want full adjustability, so I plan on (a left and a right) hiem or flex joint on each lower. A single adjustable joint on the upper. I'm currently running fixed RE control arms and I'm out of adjustment.
What Flex joints have you guys used and your experiences good and bad? Looked at Ballistic Joints, Rusty's Forged Joints, Trail Tuff Joints, etc.
If I go with hiems I already have a source.
SO the question is Flex joints vs Hiem's?

Heims  they get loose with use.. Johnny Joints get a  Balistic Fabs stuff foshor any of the ones you mentioned would work fine, best part they are serviceable and can be tightened up as needed. Heims = throw them away.. $0.02  |

im with mike on this one. The flex joints re the way to go. I have been using currie johnnie joints on projects for years and really like them. Every time I put a heim joint on something it ends up making noise or wearing out prematurely. Even the fancy new cryo treated chromoly stuff.

SO the next question.......Who have you guys purchased your joints from? I need a source for 2 @ 2.5" RH, 2@ 2.5" LH and 2@ 2 RH.

I'm thinking about full adjustability......I would like to have the ability to adjust like a tie rod.
So a L/H and R/H joint on each lower arm. Is that do-able???
On the uppers a single adjustable point.

Got mine at Poly Performance, I with Mike also get the JJ, although I do run some large hiems on the front of my Rig but it is not a daily driver.

seriously guys? jj especially ballistic joints NOISY ask me i know at 60 buck a joint almost look at any koh racer HEIMS all the way ! what do you have on yours mike? HEIMS! what do i have heims and joints want to go all heims! |

I ended up getting Rubicon Express joints an amking my own adjustable control arms. I have used Jhonny Joints, I did have one fail on my track bar. Very happy with the RE joints!!

i know yopu dont need advice any more, but there seems to be a lot of votes for flex joints instead of heims. i've been running ruffstuff heims for the last 2 years. lots of wheeling trips and lots of abuse, and not one sign of wear or slop. on my old rig which belongs to 96jeepspedd now, i used ballistic flex joints (the big ones) on the axle end of my LCA's and i've had to tighten them up every trip. no big deal i guess, but it's not my idea of acceptable wear. i will continue to run heims on everything. and i'm sure that someone makes a quality flex joint, but how much $ compared to a ruffstuff heim?

Billy I agree with you. Ruff Stuff heims are a great value. I use them on my steering (drag link and tie rod) and have never had a problem.
I got a deal on the RE joints so I went that route.
