At the Meet and Greet some folks there asked what that thing was on my shifter: my hand throttle.

A hand throttle is handy in manual transmission Jeeps (or any manual trans rig) in rocks, hills or anywhere you need to control the brake, clutch and throttle at the same time. It allows one hand to work the throttle, one foot on the brake and one on the clutch.

It takes some practice to use and should be used with cautioni, it is NOT a cruise control and should never be used as one. It is helpful if you have on-board air to bring up and hold RPM's and it looks cool ~cool2

So, rather than muddle through how I did it I got some links on installs, including a link to OffRoadEngineering's new electronic control for the fly-by-wire types (think JK's...)

Rubicon and Teraflex make kits for the YJ/TJ (ORW usually has the Teraflex kit in stock @ $20 - $30)

I went with Stu Olson method the only difference is that used a hand brake assembly . I think total cost including cable was $20 and as Steve said very handy for the rocks

My jeep has an automatic tranny so I don't need that but I could see where that would help out a lot.

YOU made me laugh at this post...You really only need one foot on the brake while going down Heart Attack Hill, and 4 wheel low in first gear.
