Ok I just lifted my old FSJ quite a bit and my dog "LEXUS"
is looking at me kinda of funny. For those who dont know Lexus is my good buddy that travels to work, wheeling, and for that matter everywhere with me. She's a middle aged lab and I do want to continue to take here with me. They say that its not good on the shoulders of the dogs to let them jump out of tall vehicles on to the ground. While she can make it up into the truck now I can see that might not last too much longer. LOL

Has anybody built a entry aid for their pets. I was thinking along the side of the rig on the rockers building some boat sides. Then having a ramp that would slide under the floor through the boat side. I could pin it into place through the floor and it would never open on its own. The ramp would make it about 1/2 to 2/3 the way to the ground which should be fine for her for a while. And when she's gone the next youngster can use it as well. Any thoughts or ideas on what might work better? Or just pick up the damn dog?

Take a section of the boat side and have it pivot down with steps on the inside.  Like the private jets where the door open unfolds down to stairs.  If you want to get super pimp, set it up on air actuators with a stitch set to the door so every time you open the door, the air actuator pivot the steps down.

Make a false floor in the rear with a slide out ramp for "Old yeller" it can double as a table top while out campimg also. I did something like that for an "old friend /shop dog" of mine years ago.

I had a 2 x 12 that was hinged in the middle that used to get my POT BELLY PIG  in and out of my Suburban. It was about 7 feet long extended and folded it would fit in the back of the Suburban.
