We've all modified our rigs to one extent or another. Just curious what mods turned out to be totally not worth the effort... The Mods you were least happy with and given the opportunity you would not do them again. Thought this might help others decide on that mod that they have been thinking about. And on the other hand what is the coolest Mod you've done to your ride!

well i didnt actually do this mod. but the previous owner did a 3" procomp lift on the 4runner. and it was absolute crap. it felt like there was no suspension at all. like the axles were weldes straight to the frame. it wasnt until i bought the tube bumper and winch that it actually started to try and flex out. but i would definately not suggest this lift to anyone. and as far as the collest mod. well right now i dont really know cause i havent used anythign yet. but as far as before i started tearing it apart. the thing i probally put the most money in was the stereo. i have to have good tunes on the trail. and cd's just dont cut it out there. so it was one of those really nice alpine stereos that i can plug my ipod into and control the ipod through the stereo. along with some banging alpine speakers. 6.5 inch up front and the 6x9's in back.

I can't think of any I wouldn't do again. Now, I think the best mod was the PRP suspension seats with 5 point harness's tied to the cage. I can ride in my jeep for hours and still be comfy. Or maybe the cable shifters for the D300, or the longfields in the front diff.
if you research your project, have a plan of attack, you probably wont regret whatever you do

Well I guess i'll be #3 on bad lift springs. The lift or even just suspension upgrades are one of the most important mods for us offroad guys and if what you do doesn't work right of doesn't work well then being offroad isn't as much fun. My lift springs are some of the softest available for my rig and they are way to stiff. If I had it to to all over again i'd have gone SOA instead.
Dave.

After last night, I would say rear main seal. Of course, that isn't a mod, but a nessesary repair.

Worst mod was rough country shocks (2.2s). They were too long and rode like an empty dump truck. My 'best' mod was getting my TJ stolen and upgrading to a Lj rubicon. After experiencing lockers they would be my first mod. IMO a stock jeep with lockers will out wheel open open jeeps on 33s with a lift.

When I swapped a solid axle into my ranger I did leafs the first time. I should have linked it and done coilovers. I didn't really learn my lesson the second time cause I linked it but with coil springs. I should have done coil overs. For that matter I should have just started with a bunch of tube and parts cause that is where I am heading anyway.
Worst tool I ever bought is my Parker plasma cutter. I hate that thing with a pasion.
