Figured your opinions would be more relevant than google.  I'm in north county and I'm looking for a transmission guy to replace the clutch and inspect the rest of the tranny while its out.  Manual tranny in a 93 YJ.  Last trip out it slipped more than I expect during a shift so it might be time to replace.  I'll know more once I test it out on the street a little.

Where are you located? There are a few good shops in town with proven records.

I know the guys over at Valley Transmission in the Cajon Zone... good honest guys, not sure they are the cheapest but sometimes thats not good either. ThumbUp

There's also The Transmission Source in Vista. 538 Olive Ave., Bld B. 92083    1-760-732-3546   The owners name is Don. I used to work with him years ago at another shop. Great guy, learned alot from him. Does quality work and has been doing transmissions for a long time. Did the trans on my mother-in-laws car last year.

I have used and recommended Sparky's Transmission on Adams Ave in San Diego.  The owner, Bob, is a great guy and a straight shooter.

At work I use Oceanside transmission for any major trans work. They're not the cheapest but the quality is good and they'll tell it to you straight.

If you're near Temecula, try out Walters Transmission.  951-693-2972.  He's over by the CHP office; Via Neido I believe is the street name.  Walt built the tranny for my CTD, filling it with billit and Dunright goodies.  Prices are good and the work quality is top notch.

Thanks for the recomendations everyone.  I'll keep those north county ones in mind.  After driving the jeep those nice hot days we had, it seems to be working fine.  Maybe the slip I had the other weekend was driver error .  I'll keep an eye on it for now.
