Well I have been thinking about axle swaps for my CJ. After some research I found that a 44 has the same u-joints as some later model jeeps.  The cj knuckle will interchange as well, so basicly a 44 is only going to give me a bigger ring and pinoin and housing. NOT worth it IMO. So this is where Im at.My CJ has tiny u-joints in it BUT my friend is getting me a set of SUPERIOR axles which have the larger u-joint. The 297X by spicer has been upgraded to a 760X which is supposed to be much stronger. I have also found that ALLOY axle makes a 44 u joint for $45 each that is said to be better then the spicer 760X . They claim it comes in between the CTM (big $$) and the 760X. So I ordered the alloy joints and superior axles and will be putting it together before XMAS if all goes well.
