Well just in time for wheelin' season, my transmission went out. I have a '87 Chevy K5 Blazer 4WD with a 700R4. So far I got a quote for appx. $1700 for a complete rebuild if the shop does all the work. I don't really have the time to do the removal and install myself. I am looking for reliable referrals to mechanics that are reasonable and good. I'm in east county and will have to have it towed to the shop.
Thanks,
Rob

I always recommend sparky's transmisison on Adams Ave in San Diego. He's a good guy and does good work for a fair price.

My boss always recommends Nates Transmission Shop next to Veys powersports in Lemon Grove.  Everytime he buys a vehicle he takes it straight to Nates and has them go trought the tranny and he never has tranny issues in any of his vehicles.

Well I ended up pulling the tranny with a friends help and took it to Super Trans 1 / Super Shops in El Cajon (Walter). They rebuilt it for $800 with a shift kit, upgraded clutches, new torque converter and best of all an 18 month waranty. Today we finished reinstalling it in my Blazer and it ran great. Now to hit Pancake Rock for a trial run before Tierra Del Sol.
