On December 31, 2010, Ted and Ty (plus Torin (8) & Trace (6)) ventured out to Corral Canyon for one last wheelin' day of 2010.  We met at about 9:30 am (because Ty thinks it takes 1 hour to get to C.C., where in reality, it takes 1.5 hours).  It was about 36 degrees ... C-O-L-D.  Of course, Ty and Torin wore shorts.  The Jeep's thermometer said it got all the way up to 40 degrees during the day.  There was ice on the ground in several places (in the shade).

We attempted the Connector first.  After Ty had to winch twice just to get to the notch, we all stood by while Ted attempted the notch with everything his rig had.  Because of the super slick conditions, we decided to back down the hill a bit, turn around, and hit some other trials.  We did Sidewinder and Bronco Peak and had a fantastic time.  One of the best things -- there was NO DUST!
.

Torin (8) took all the photos of the Jeep JK.  I think he did a pretty good job.

On the way out of the park, some Jeepers (who ran the outer loop during the day) were stopped by the side of the road at a big puddle, with the Blue 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited stalled in the water, at the edge of the "pond."  We stopped and offered help, and a wise-word to call AAA.  it turns out that the guy drove his brand new 2010 Jeep (with only 4,000 miles on it) too fast through the water and hydro-locked his vehicle.

I think the "puddle" (pond) was more like 2 - 3 feet deep.  A silver JK-U with no lift went through it right after we helped drag the Blue one out without any problem (because he drove s-l-o-w-l-y).  The Blue Jeep's buddies said the driver hit the puddle really fast.  Huge wave came over the top -- it all was bad news.  The air filter was completely soaked ... there was water in the inlet tube, inside the oil fill cap, and on most of the spark-plugs.  To top it off, the Jeep was stuck in "park," and the owner snapped the little release key near the gear selector.

It had nothing to do with the boys not wanting to go stand in the puddle.  Remember, it was in the 40's, getting dark, we were on our way home, and we had a New Year's Eve party with Uncle Rob to get to --> so, no way they were gonna get in that water if they knew what was good for them!

Looks like the trails were in great condition. Sorry to see the bummed out dude with the new JK but learning I guess is all part of the equation and sometimes it is better to wheel smartly and think before your motor drinks. Learned this the hard way with a dirt bike. Same results.
