ok another thing i want to find out is what gear ratio i have, i dont know if its stock, it has gasket sealer around the dif covers i dont know if it was from routine maintenance or regearing, it has a 2.5l, 33in tires, and on the freeway at 65 its at like 3000 rpms in 5th gear, then once i hit a hill 55 at 3000rpms in 4th gear and if its a even bigger hill on the freeway down to 3rd...is this from the stock gearing? offroad this thing is a beast and has no problems climbing or anything.
thanks

4cyl come stock with 4.11's i think. ith 33's i'm going to guess 4.56? go down to your driveshaft, put a mark on a tire and a mark on the driveshaft. turn the tire once and see how many times the driveshaft spins. if one rotation of the tire and the driveshaft spins 4.11 times, then you have a 4.11 ratio  ThumbUp

What he said.  4 cyl wranglers came with 4.10/4.11 gears, unless they have an auto trans. I think those are 3.73.

To check the ratio you need to put the marks on the DS and wheel then spin one wheel twice and block the other from spinning then count how many turns the DS makes.  That will give you the ratio count.  I don't know why you have to turn the tire twice but that's how it has to be done.

I read that also, did it mention to divide by 2 or did I miss something.. lol  LMAO Change the diff fluid and look for the stamped number in the ring gear. It's most likely need to be changed anyway..  ThumbUp
