Heres what i have, 1989 Ford F250 460efi. Had the truck for maybe a couple months or so, the previous owners were unable to get the truck running, they got frusterated with and left it in thir front yard for almost 2 years, never touched it. I came by one day bought it from them, hooked up a fuel line that was disconected and drove it away.  Been running great up untill 2 weeks ago. Huge power loss, very bad idle and usally will stall, but is smooth in higher RPMs. I replaced the TPS, fuel pressure regulator, dist. cap or rotor, wire plugs, motors pulls a solid 25psi of vacume. timming is set to factory specs. Still runs like crap. Any advise?

Check fuel pressure and fuel filter. Check air filter and the vacuum line that goes to the MAP sensor. Another possible cause is the ignition module and stator. Does it have duel fuel tanks? Sometimes the fuel seperator will leak or bypass fuel pressure. The IAC will cause stalling, low and rough idle but not a power loss.

After sitting that long I'm wondering about fuel pressure.  Maybe clogged fuel filter???

Hmm thanks for the info guys. It does have 2 fuel tanks, and now that i think about it if i park on a very steep downhill and rear fuel tank does leak from the top of the tank. But none of the lines leak when its running. Dave, all the fuel filters were replaced when i bought it although when i hit the vavle on the fuel rail nasty yellow gas shot out, but iv had atleast 5 or 6 tanks of clean gas ran threw it. But ill check the filters aways.

Sometimes those fuel selector valves on the frame rail will go bad and cause fuel to pump from the front tank into the back tank or back to front. Does it run any different running on the front tank vs the rear tank.

I'd check the fuel pressure anyway, just to make sure. The MAP sensor and vacuum line to the sensor from the manifold are also possible causes.

My buddy had an 89 bronco that would go through Ignition Modules, once every two years or so. He hated it.  taz

If it runs rough at idle its probably the iac unit... Have you checked it. They are pretty cheep for chevys.

The IAC will cause it to run rough at idle but won't cause it to run rich or cause black smoke. The fuel pressure regulator will cause it to run rich and have black smoke, so will the MAP sensor. Have you checked the fuel pressure, or the MAP sensor?
