k so its a 92 Chevy 1500 2we pickumup truck. Just replaced the motor. And damned near everything else. When you turn the key to the on position everything works just fine. But once you turn the key to start the cluster panel goes ape**** and the starter just clicks. Good battery and starter. Pulled it off and had it tested. What the hells wrong? Anyone please... trying to get my pops truck running. The only thing I van think of is maybe a bad switch?

Clean your battery cables at the battery.I just went through the same thing on my 97 GMC. Starter would just click. Bought a new starter put it in and had the same thing happen. Puller off the cables and poured a can of Dr Pepper on them, hooked em back up and it started without any problems.

Brand new battery and cables. Also that wouldn't explain the cluster panel going bonkers

check both the engine and chase ground connections (both are required and need to be clean/ paint free). The ground might be good enough to pass enough power to turn everything on but when you try to crank, the starter uses all current flow available. the rest of the system thinks the battery is low and goes haywire cause the starter is using all current flow.
