for a grocery getter that sees some snow once in a while the 208 is fine. it's chain driven and is more expensive to repair than a 205. actually 205's cost nothing to repair since they're pretty much indestructable, unlike the 208.

i wish the big 3 would have left a good thing alone, but then the dealerships would have less money to make on repairs. ThumbDown

Only thing the 208 has on the 208 is gearing, but it doesn't matter 'cause it's weak.

205 is gear driven, yeah its strong and freaking heavy

208 is chain driven, lower gear compared to the 205 and aluminum casing and no it aint weak as people say it is i bash mine and its still alive.

My brother and I have broken 4 of them. They're not strong enough for us. Locked one ton axles, 39" tires on fullsize Chevys.

Dodge HD NP241s are pretty light and beefy. I've only broken mine once, short tailhousing would probably cure that. It's under an 8000 # Dodge with a cummins and 39s.
