Just like the rest of the world things went dead around 3:30 yesterday leaving the shop lifeless. I figured Id hang till 5 but needed something to do that power was not required on. Hammer Dolly time on a 37 Plymouth Pick Up was the perfect fit. Around 5:00 I headed home. It took about an hour to make the normal 10 minute 5 mile trip home. I dug out the ole Generator, a few extension cords and got ready for NFL Man its good to have football again. A fan, Tv, and speed eating on the food I didnt want to go bad. LOL Pretty cool night in hind sight. I couldnt believe how quiet it can be. I was hearing neighbors talking from half way up the block. I was a little disapointed when the lights came back on at 9:30 knowing I didnt have an excuse not to come to work today. What did you guys end up doing?

Sounds like a good time. I ended up listening to the flashlight/radio to get updates. It's good to have those things around. For dinner I fired up the little BBQ and cooked up some Spam, Hickory Smoke flavor, and ate it with some crackers. It was a nice dinner by candle light with the wife. All in all it was a pretty nice evening, other than missing what sounded like a great game.

Moved the family out into the motorhome...had some tv dinners. I'm not a big football fan, but we have satellite tv for my wife and daughters. Didn't really miss a beat! Power came back at 12:30am

It made me want to go camping. I came home from work and gathered up a lantern, flashlights, candles, batteries and a radio. Then grilled some burgers and read a book. then walked the dog and read a book by lamp light.

I was on the ship, so once the power went out, it was a mad rush to place all of our equipment on safe. Once the engineers got one generator online, we had to carefully figure out what gear we could bring up. I had to bring up the launcher cause we are loaded with missiles and it is always a good idea to moniter them. Once the launcher was up, we had to trouble shoot all the faults that the power outage caused. I didn't get home till after 6:30 last night. We ended up going to bed around 9:00. Very un-exciting for the most part.

I thought it was going to be a quick and small blackout so I went to big 5 to get a gun cleaning kit. I then realized it was a bigger blackout than I thought and came back home. Checked to see if my sister was ok at state. Tried to call MT but the phones were jammed. Made a list on what we need so we are better prepared for next time. The phones were jammed and couldn't talk over the lan line so I talked to friends over facebook on the cell phone.
