After completeing numerous projects on Taylor's and My Jeeps, it is finally time to build my rear bumper.  We started on it a few night ago and have already made good progress.  This is the first project that I am doing myself, but it is nice to have Taylor there to check my work and give me ideas.  Here are a few pis of the progress.

marking my cut lines

using the plasma cutter to make the cuts

welding up the cuts

and how it sat at the end of the night.

Next on the list is the mounts.  Then cap off the ends.  And I will finish off with a swing out tire carrier.  Overall, I am happy with the progress.

I was thinking of running some 1.75" tube from the rear bumper, along the top of my rig to the fron bumper so when I roll over, I will just keep rolling back on my wheels........J/K LMAO

Thanks for the words of encouragement.  I am looking forward to getting this done.

So I have been bad about posting update, but I have been busy and it took a while for me to figure out the new photobucket site.  I have the brackets fabed up along with the shackle mounts.  The bracket is a basic L shaped design that captures the three factory rear bumper bolt holes along with another two holes that were in the frame.  I figure 5 grade 8 bolt that are 1/2" on each side should be pretty solid.  On top of that, the shackle mount will run from the mounting bracket through the bumper.  The shackle mount will be welded to the mounting bracket, the back of the bumper, and the front of the bumper.  Overall, it should be pretty solid.  On to pics:

Driver side mount

Passenger side mount

This is how the bumper will look with the shackle mounts.

A cool shot of me welding up the mounts.  A little more welding, and the mounts will be complete.
