I found out about this site from one of Metal Twisters shameless, self promoting posts on Pirate and have been lurking for the last week or so. I bought my CJ7 ~ eight years ago with the intentions of building it for the rocks. So I immediately put a 44 under the front and a 60 in the rear, added a NV4500 and coil spring suspension. I thought it was done, thought being the key word, it's now undergoing revision 3.

We live further north than most of the members here, we're in Ventura County. My wife enjoys 4 wheeling as much as I do and we try to get out a couple of times a month. Once a year we'll go on a trip like Rubicon, Dusey or Moab. And we'll get away several times a year for the weekend to the Hammers.

I understand there's some good 4 wheeling down south and I'll be watching the run section here for an opportunity to meet some of you.

I never said shameless is a bad thing.

In this picture the jeep has a FI 258 with 4.88 gears, four link rear, three link front, and 35' BFG's. It wheeled really well, did the Little Sluice fairly eazily and most of the Hammers suitable for Jeeps. It never broke a thing.

Then I went to a 5.3 Vortec, 4-1 D300, hydro-assist, King coil overs and 37" MTR"s. Every trip to the Hammers it would bust U joints (until I went to Longfields),  and twist Superior axles. It did however climb and articulate much better.

This go round is Spidertrax with Hi 9's front and rear, Atlas 5-1, Full hydro, 12" stretch, frame and tub mod's and 42's. All the take off parts are sold and gone and the works about half finished. It should be ready for the Fun in The Desert run this year.

Thanks for the welcome guy's. So it looks like either the first or second weekend next month a couple friends and I will be in San Diego to run some trails. We're looking for some of the more challenging type. One friend has been up Bronco Peak, and I've heard Corral and Devil's Canyons are fun. Are these all in the same area and are there others we should try while we're there? Does anyone have a brief description of the these runs? I'll post when we have a hard date and see if anyone here would like to join us.

Thanks,

Hi Double AA,
Welcome.
Here is a link of a map for Corral Canyon/ Campground
http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/cleveland/recreation/ohv/corralmap.shtml
trail 3A Bronco Peak Connector is the hardest we've got here.

Last time I check Devils Canyon was still closed. That was last year. Someone told me that the BLM closed it because in an emergency it would be to hard to extract someone? Act of kindness of the goverment protecting us from ourselves. ~2guns
I have allways wanted to run that trail. Roger Mullins from JustRuns.com drove up from the bottom to check it. He reported No signs that said it was closed, but the gate keeper would be almost impassable with out a crane.
I'll have to go scope it out when it cools down.
Definitely give a shout out when your down here.
