Well, I guess I?m somewhat new still to the off-roading world, although I?ve spent plenty of time in the desert and mountains (and I?ve had other 4-wheel drive vehicles (1990 Toyota 4Runner; wife?s 1993 Toyota Standard Cab p/u; 1993 Ford Bronco; and, I?ve had motorcycles in the past as well (none as much fun as the Jeep, though))). Anyhow, back in November 2007, getting very tired of frequent and numerous repair bills, I traded in my very fast German cabriolet sports car for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK ?X? 2-door that I am currently driving. And now, let me tell you, I am the coolest dad in the world to my two sons (ages 4 & 6). They couldn?t care less about the sports car; but now, all they want to do is ?go with Dad in the Jeep!? So that?s pretty cool.
I try to do all my own work on the Jeep, which is another reason why I traded in the other vehicle; and now, after so much fun wheeling, I am starting to plan my ?trail-only? rig (I?d like to start with a CJ-7, or a Jeepster Commando, or possibly a Scout). That ought to certainly provide enough ?wrenching? to quench the thirst.
The family and I try to wheel as much as we can. Lots of time it is just me and the boys due to the fact that my wife?s new position at work has her traveling a lot. We really like wheeling in Big Bear (either summer or winter), and we?ve run a number of trials up there (John Bull and Gold Mountain are our favorite so far ? but we?re always looking for the next new run); it is an easy place for us to go to because we?ve got a cabin up in that area. However, we are always looking for groups to go wheeling with, no matter where the location.
I live in Escondido, and I have an office in San Marcos; so we?re pretty much up here in North County most of the time. Other hobbies include going to the River/Lake with our powerboat, spending time in the mountains, swimming in the backyard with the boys, and drinking beer (lots of beer ? luck for me Stone Brewery and World Bistro & Gardens is only minutes away from my house).
A quick run down of the mod?s to the Jeep: 2007 JK "X" Black 2-door 6-speed | 4:10 gears | 4" Skyjacker lift (quick disco's) Eagle Alloy 17" w/ 315/70R17 AT | JE Reel Driveshafts aFe Cold Air Intake | Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer MagnaFlow Cat-back Exhaust | sPOD switches & Source Alpine IVA-205 HU & Blackbird GPS | Skid Row skid plates Rugged Ridge Diff Covers | Hella Off-road Lights w/ Mopar brackets CoolTech UltraMount CB mount | The Source 10lbs Co2 tank Poison Spyder Rocker Knockers | Poison Spyder Tube Fenders (on order)
Hope to meet most of you on the trails. Ty....

Welcome Ty! We are tring hard to keep this a family place, so keep the boys looking at the pics. We need to get some of you and your rig so we can post um up on the pic of the day! I sent you a pm about the Night run tomorrow. Like StvDiego mentioned on the ride post he has a couple extra tents packed away in his motorhome for just such occasions. Its warm down there so bring the sunscreen and a couple of sleeping bags, and rough it with the guys! LOL Again thanks for joining up and again welcome.

just noticed...where are teh head rests in on the back seat? Since my boys are still in car seats, and their heads don't stick up too far, I removed the head rests in order to see better out the back. The spare tire already eats up a lot of the visibility, so just trying to get as much back as I can.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. In the short time I've been here (the forum) it has been nothing but good times. Went on my first run with the group (August Full Moon Run), and had a blast! ~punk The wheelin' was great, the company was fantastic, and the food was pretty darn good as well. And then, to top it off, I guess I won the "give-away" of a hig lift-type jack (which is pretty cool, especially considering that I don't have one yet!)
When's the next run?
Ty...
