I think it would be fine. I used to have one of the cheapest cobra radios out there (can't remember what model) and it worked fine. I took it to a cb store to get it "tweaked and peaked" and the guy told me it was junk and it wouldn't last a year. It lasted me about 5 yrs and the only reason I got a different one was because I got in an accident with that truck and it got damaged. Fire stick antennas work great and they look cool to, thats what I have now but my favorite is the "mini wilson". If I had a hard top I would be using one of those for sure. As far as the price goes just do a search on the net and see what everyone else is selling that model for.

I think I have a older model 19 in the garage, worked good, till I pulled on the mic to hard ~hammer ~oops. I don't think the price is to far out of line. And you can't go wrong with a firestick.

here's one for $45

The Cobra 19 is a good radio.

Check WallyWorld and Fry's, they both carry the Cobra 19 for about $35 (not all WalMarts ahve the CB radio, but check in the car audio section, they're usually stashed in the case...)

Cobra is good, as well as the others as long as the antenna matching, grounding and installation are payed attention too, they will work just fine.  You  can take a very cheap radio and make it work great as long as all the issues are payed attention too.
