When mounting the tire was when things would turn really bad..........but then again if a tire comes off a semi on the freeway thats pretty ugly too  ~eek

I drive my jeep on beadlocks all the time personally I don't worry about it I don't think they want to do the paperwork over some rims so as long as there is nothing else they can get me for I'm ok.   ~innocent

Beadlocks are a pian to put on and put tires on. I guessed as much, which is why I've never run them, and a buddy is in the process of doing them and has confirmed it is a pain and very time consuming. My buddy with the buggy has external but not internal locks and burps air out of the internal bead.

I would run a staun or similar.

Or glue your tires to your wheels with windshield glue if you're a po-boy like me.  ~cool2

EDIT: there's also the bead screw idea from inchworm gear I think.

Lots of people run without beadlocks. Wheels and tires that have bead areas that fit each other well and have a slightly narrow wheel for your tire will stay seated pretty well down to single digits. I ran 15x8 steel wheels with 35x12.50 MTRs on my jeep down to 8psi without trouble.

There is many advantages of beadlocks...sidewall grip. if a bead is popped and your in a bad spot to use the high lift you can keep moving. piece of mind. & they look cool ~scooter

I only have the champions because I got a heal of a deal on them but I would rather have stauns for sure

Yeah. I think another adv to stauns would be that they'd act like a runflat if you did lose pressure. Like the military beadlocks.

ALSO it doesn't really matter, but as to the two piece wheel thing, they used to and still do make some 2 and 3 piece wheels for cars. Usually the center bolts to the rim.

I help out on a CIFCA funny car and we run a staun style beadlock, same thing with some bigger name fuelers use the same set up and that is exactly the idea if you lose a tire at 200+ you'll still be able to keep her under control
