So I'm assuming that just about everyone has one so let's see or hear about what you got.
1. What kind of Cb radio and where is it mounted.
2. What kind of antenna and where is it mounted.

I have about the cheapest of cheap radios you can buy. I use a mike and radio combo made by Maxon. Right now I have it mounted in my center console in my Jeep and my antenna is a firestick that is mounted on top of my spare tire carrier.  ;) So far it works alright but I will upgrade soon.

Uniden Pro 538W on Arizona Rocky Road radio mount.

Also have:
4' Adamantium-core Firestick on Arizona Rocky Road antenna mount that is homaletically bonded to my tire carrier.
78' Uberleet coax cable from Mud Shark - Check the interweb, anything shorter than that won't work and might even catch fire.

Just ordered a handheld.............Ya, Ya, Ya,  i know !!!
.
i just really don't wont to have all that wires, cords, antennas, dash clutter and cord to mic' and  crap that gos with a dash mount.......
.
even if i have to throw it away, its worth trying to me...
.
all the customer reports say (I read at least 20 plus of them) I'll have a 1/2 mile range in side my cab'....
.
1 mile range outside my cab with the stock antenna........
.
so i bought the extra long antenna that screws in and should get a 2 mile range........but dont plan on even using that unless i have to
.
and they all said with a power assisted good antenna, it will get the full 4 mile range that a dash mount gets ???
but not going with the powered one because it would have all the wires and cords that a dash mount would have,
.
maybe buy one store it ....just in case i had to hook it up for a 911 type condition......
.

Cobra 19 mounted over the windshield with a Firestick on the Arizona Rocky Road mount. Tried a Wilson antenna, just over-powered everyone close by. Also have an external PA speaker hooked up to the radio, very handy for harassing the spotter

I also carry a couple of handhelds for just in case and for spotting. A cheap CB on the trail is just as good as a very expensive CB on the trail, ya don't need a whole lot of power to talk to the guy twenty feet in front of you. Handhelds can be noisier especially if a plug in power source is used by turning down the squelch can fix that.

Uniden Bearcat with dynamic squelch control and a Tiger Everhardt antenna.  My daddy is a trucker so he got me the fancy setup.  ThumbUp  antenna is mounted to my drivers side front fender, similar to radio antenna on opposite side.

Anyhow'  just like Steve Said !!! ... Works great for close wagon train communication !!!

So whats the consciences on the CB? I need to be thinking about one for the the heep but don't what to spend an arm and a leg for one but i do want one that is reliable and clear. Any that you would steer clear from? Any that you would prefer? Give me your thoughts on what I should spend my hard earned money on. PLEASE Drink

I have a nice radioshack with builtin SWR meter, weather, emergency channel monitoring, channel switching buttons on the mic, etc. I like it better than my cheep cobra. cobra's mic is huge. also reverts to 9 every time you turn it off/on or if you haved it powered by ignition switch. highly annoying.  mag base antenna on my tool box or roof

I have a COBRA 29 LTD with a mag base WILSON 1000 antena. These are IMO the best antena on the market. You can have the best radio on the planet but without a good antena its not going to perfom well. You can find them on E-BAY, got mine for $50. The C.B. came out of a semi that I'm not using at this time. I think they run about $120 at Peterbilt, I haven't chacked prices on E-BAY for a radio. Its not the best radio but it works better then most (IMO) due to a good antena.

Thought I had pics but they aren't very good. I will take some.

Thanks for the reply's guys. To me an antenna is an antenna, well in looks anyway. I have a tuner but have never used. That might be a good Tech Night item. But nows that I mention it i think that was brought up before.

I have been in the trucking buisness for 19 years and the fiberglass ones just don't cut it. Not even close. I have only seen one wilson fail. They are tough and last forever. My battery is charging for my camera and will put up pics in a little while. (IM NOT WORKING AGAIN TODAY Cuss dooh Cuss dooh)

Don't feel alone on work!!!

The Wilson Antennas are the best, I ran them on my big trucks for years. I run a fiberglass antenna on my Jeep though. I just didn't want to hear the antenna smacking the back of my Jeep. For all your CB needs you can try Audio Plus in El Cajon. Sorry I just hate Walmart. They are killing all family owned business in America. Am I ranting...? Sorry
