Looking for some info on scout 2.  Somebody wants to trade me for a truck I have.  Want to know if there is any web sites or other info as far as lifts, drivetrain, etc.

They have slightly better axles (D44) than a jeep.

Trans and transfercases are usually pretty standard Dana stuff

Engines might be a little hard to get parts for

Lifts shouldn't be a problem.

Some Scout companies are :

IH Only/IH Only North, D&C Extreme, Anything Scout.

On my old CJ-7, I grenaded a Scout front on a dirt hillclimb. Detroit, gears, axleshaft. My CJ was light, but I think I was in 3rd 4lo pinned.

I'd change your ratio...or get 60s.

got the scout.   trying to do some research on it.  want to do a spoa but the pass side spring sits under the dif and the top side is rounded so the only way seems to grind the dif or cut it and plate it. its cast so i dont think i can do anything to it.  any suggestions?

new springs, longer shackles.....otherwise some labor intensive fab work will get you sprung over but would be cheapeer just to get another front end out of something else.

i might have to do the new spring thing, but I have $0 so i was hoping i could do a spoa just with labor.  i did one on a samuri before and that was pretty easy, but it just that diff that is holding me up.  i do have a set of of 44's from my '76 chevy that i promised to somebody i was thinking about keeping, but they would be wider(that might work out better?).  it just runs and works good right know that i hate to tear into it. Who knows. I guess this is one of the good parts about starting a new project.  i will try to post some pictures of what i am starting with.

I'm a new guy here with a Scout, and new to the 4x4 world but trying to learn.  I have two Scouts set up with Chevy axles.  It's a good way to go if you want to do SOA conversion since you don't need to do a cut and turn on the knuckles to get the correct castor angle.  The Chevy axles are not too much wider than the Scout II axles, with the correct rim backspacing it would look great.

If you haven't already, check out www.binderbulletin.com for more Scout info.

I won't claim to know many Scout secrets, I'm just the Scout expert at my house.  The thing with working on these trucks is that you need to do pretty much everything yourself since the aftermarket is slim to none.  If you're in San Diego area I could help you out with anything.
